Where Were You Dad — Mikel Alves

Verse 1

A six-string hum under the moon's glare
Your shadow lingers but you're not there
Echoes of silence fill the air
Where were you when I needed care

Chorus

Where were you dad
Where did you go
Left me with questions I’ll never know
How to love
How to teach love
You vanished like a star above

Verse 2

Your voice
A ghost in the empty hall
Felt your absence like a weight too tall
The mirror shows your face in mine
But your lessons? Lost in time

Prechorus

I learned to stand on broken knees
Love’s a language you never taught me

Chorus

Where were you dad
Where did you go
Left me with questions I’ll never know
How to love
How to teach love
You vanished like a star above

Bridge

Did you run from the storms you made
Or get lost in the debts you paid
Your silence was the loudest sound
It’s in the cracks where I am found
