keep up 2 — don bishop

Instrumental Intro

Verse 1

The headlines blur before I read the page
Another algorithm flips the stage
My phone's a window to a world on fast-forward
I'm catching smoke before it hits the floor

The maps keep changing every time I blink
The ground beneath me's never what I think
I used to know the language of the times
But now I'm learning just to keep from going down

Pre-Chorus

And everyone's moving, moving, moving
Like the current's pulling hard
And I'm swimming, swimming, swimming
Against a tide of Change

Chorus

I'm trying to keep up, keep up, keep up
With the speed of everything
I'm running on the edge of something I can't see
Keep up, keep up, keep up
With the shape of everything
Maybe I don't have to catch it to be free

Verse 2

The faces change but the hunger stays the same
New names for old fires, different frames
I traded stillness for a signal full of noise
And called the Change back to my own damn voice

The versions pile up like seasons without snow
I ache for something that I used to know
But maybe loss is just a door left open wide
And change is just the world still being alive

Pre-Chorus

And everyone's moving, moving, moving
Like the current's pulling hard
And I'm swimming, swimming, swimming
Against a tide of times

Chorus

I'm trying to keep up, keep up, keep up
With the speed of everything
I'm running on the edge of something I can't see
Keep up, keep up, keep up
With the shape of everything
Maybe I don't have to catch it to be free

Guitar Solo Interlude

Bridge

What if I stop running for a second
Stand still and let the world roll past
What if the only thing worth keeping
Is the part of me that's built to last
Built to last — built to last

Outro

Keep up... keep up...
Let it go... keep up...
