Nothing On the Calendar — dbuck

Intro

Verse 1

The porch creaks louder than the screen door
Morning drifts in without asking
A faded truck bakes in the driveway
Keys still hanging on the wall

There's nowhere I need to be
The clock keeps doing its own thing
I let the room wake up first
Then I follow

Chorus

Nothing on the calendar
Nothing pulling at my sleeve
The day can take its time
I'm already where I need to be

Nothing on the calendar
Just another easy ride
No finish line to chase
Just another mile of sky

Instrumental

Verse 2

The corner store still sells yesterday's paper
The old neon sign hums through the afternoon
Someone laughs from across the parking lot
The sound disappears into the heat

I lean against the hood
Watch clouds move slower than traffic
Sometimes that's enough
Sometimes that's everything

Bridge

The road will still be there tomorrow
The town won't miss me for a day
No hurry to decide
No hurry at all

Final Chorus

Nothing on the calendar
Nothing left to prove
The sun falls behind the rooftops
The groove keeps rolling on

Nothing on the calendar
That's alright with me
