Acorns In My Pockets — DaddyLove

Verse 1

Sunrise on the gravel lane
Thermos coffee
Sweatshirt stain
You point up
Say "look at them"
Little tails like question marks again

Chorus

I’ve got acorns in my pockets
You’ve got mud on your shoes (oh-oh)
Laughing in the field as they circle around
Like they’re choosing us too
If this is all we ever get
These tiny hearts and you
Then I’ll stay here loving squirrels in the countryside
And being in love with you

Verse 2

Picnic on a leaning fence
You name every single friend
One comes close and climbs your boot
You freeze
Then you start to grin

Chorus

I’ve got acorns in my pockets
You’ve got mud on your shoes (hey)
Laughing in the field as they circle around
Like they’re choosing us too
If this is all we ever get
These tiny hearts and you
Then I’ll stay here loving squirrels in the countryside
And being in love with you

Bridge

City plans in the back of your mind
You say
"One day
Maybe
But not tonight"
’Cause right now they’re chasing each other in rings
And I’m just glad you’re here for these simple things

Chorus

I’ve got acorns in my pockets
You’ve got grass in your hair (oh-oh)
You lean into me while they dance on the fence
Like a quiet little prayer
If this is all we ever get
These tiny hearts and you
Then I’ll stay here loving squirrels in the countryside
And being in love
Being in love with you
