Blue Room Welcome — Mikel Alves

Intro

Welcome to the blue room
Coats on the chair
Step into the groove
Host says my name with a knowing smile
Yeah
We’re staying a while

Verse 1

Low lights
That gold-on-velvet shine
Table for two
But we’re right by the line
Where the band’s in the pocket
Drummer locked tight
Server sways past like it’s date night
Menus down
You say “order what you like”
Lemon on the rim
Little salt on the fries
Laugh so loud that the next booth turns
Chef sends a plate and the candle burns

Chorus

Welcome to the blue room
Rhode Island nights go on too soon
Plates come out and the band comes through
We dance in the aisle like it’s just me and you
Welcome to the blue room
Every seat’s got a front row view
Forks tap time
Everybody in tune
You and me
In the blue room

Verse 2

That voice on the mic got honey and flame
Singing out your song
Even says your name (oh yeah)
You pull me up
Say “baby
Let’s move”
Napkin on the chair
Now we’re right in the groove
Spinning by the bar where the ice clinks slow
Owner at the door does a little two-step show
From the kitchen line to the corner stage
Whole place feels like it’s our backstage

Chorus

Bridge

Hands up
Napkins in the air
Let ’em fly now
Toast up
Every little worry saying bye now
If you came for the food
Stay for the late-night bloom
’Cause the real main course is this blue room

Chorus
