Horsemen Report — Mikel Alves

Intro

All Horsemen report
Four signs in the sky
Four mics in the court
We alive, we alive (yeah)

Verse 1

Step in, spurs on the concrete
Mud on my boots from the long-week war
Used to ride for the reaper’s ledger
Now I ride for the fam I swore
I seen famine in a full fridge kitchen
Empty hearts with their pockets fed
So I feed ‘em what the soul been missing
Heavy plates, every phrase I said
War in my veins, but I changed direction
Turned blades into braids on my little girl’s head
Page after page, wrote pain to confession
Now my scars spell grace in the ink I bled

Chorus

All Horsemen report, we alive tonight
Saddles off, hands up, celebrate the fight
From the dirt to the stage, we gon’ raise that light
Used to ride for the end, now we ride for life
All Horsemen report

Verse 2

I was plague in the project hallway
Mask on face, but the heart was sick
Spread fear like it came on a breeze
Cold eyes, cold steel, that familiar itch
Then I watched my cousin flatline breathing
Monitor scream, then it turned to hush
Whole fam froze in the fluorescent ceiling
Time broke down, every second was dust
So I bring medicine in every measure
Clean air in a crowded chest
We toast water like it’s vintage treasure
For the ones that survived that test (yeah)

Chorus

Bridge

Death took roll, but we broke that list
Four riders ride back, reins in a fist
Famine bring food now, war bring peace
Plague bring healing, death bring release
We don’t fear that shadow
We just dance on the edge of the knife
Crowd in a circle, chanting like
“One more day, one more night” (one more)

Chorus
