Bride on Her Wedding Day (v2) — Dahlia

Verse 1

I look so good, the day should take a picture
My dress is waiting while I pin my curls
I tell myself, “You’re glowing, keep your chin up”
Then grin so wide I nearly wake the pearls
The tailor’s little chalk marks disappear
I turn around and practice being here
I’m getting married, I’m getting married
And every breath says yes, yes, yes

Pre-Chorus

Easy now
One more pin
There I am, let the happy in
My hands are doing tiny dances
My heart’s already made its entrance

Chorus

Bride on her wedding day
Look at me, I’m on my way
Bride on her wedding day
I could laugh the nerves away
Bride on her wedding day
Every little thing can wait
I’m glowing, I’m glowing, I’m glowing today
Bride on her wedding day

Verse 2

The zipper’s up, the buttons all behave
I give myself a nod like, “That’s the one”
I tuck a note inside my pocket: “Breathe”
Then add, “You’re wonderful,” because it’s true
I choose my shoes and take a careful spin
The whole room cheers; I do the spin again
I’m getting married, I’m getting married
My smile has nowhere else to go

Pre-Chorus

Easy now
Here we go
My cheeks are warm, my steps are slow
I say my name and then their name
And laugh because they sound like home

Chorus

Bride on her wedding day
Look at me, I’m on my way
Bride on her wedding day
I could laugh the nerves away
Bride on her wedding day
Every little thing can wait
I’m glowing, I’m glowing, I’m glowing today
Bride on her wedding day

Bridge

If I forget a word, I’ll make one up
If my knees shake, they can shake with joy
I’ve got my people close, my favorite face ahead
And all this love is bigger than my plans
So breathe in, darling, you have got this
You look like you believe it
I do
I do

Final Chorus

Bride on her wedding day
Look at me, I’m on my way
Bride on her wedding day
I could laugh the nerves away
Bride on her wedding day
Let the little details wait
I’m glowing, I’m glowing, I’m glowing today
Bride on her wedding day

Outro

Still grinning
Still me
Bride on her wedding day
